“Quiet Hands”

I’m taking a class on special education for the cultural and linguistically diverse… it’s surprising how little I knew about special needs aside from what I learned through media. Integration and full immersion is not about repression and making people conform. It is about promoting collaboration and understanding students’ unique needs and backgrounds and how to best integrate them so as to help both special needs and the general education students learn from each other. The world loves to fall back on dichotomous thinking; but we all have different ways of processing the world (ALL of us).

It is my personal belief that empathy is the greatest tool we can gain from modern education (HELLO we don’t live in isolation anymore, if we ever did).
